If you have too much sugar in your blood, its almost like your heart is trying to pass maple syrup through your capillaries. There isn't enough blood getting to your legs, and the lack of oxygen starts to kill cells. Nerve cells need a lot of oxygen and can't survive long periods of deprivation, so they die first and are also apparently sickened by high levels of sugar. No one understands completely why excess sugar kills nerve cells, but they are currently doing a lot of research on this factor. Regardless of what harmed them, dying or stressed nerve cells start misfiring, resulting in a burning and crawling sensation.

This is due to claudication; your arteries are filling up with atherosclerotic placques. There are lots of good meds for this: Trental (the one I use for my patients the most), Plavix, Pletal.
Walk to tolerence then a few more steps. When you rest keep your feet elevated.
When your feet and legs are burning and you are not walking, that is true diabetic neuropathy; and it is due to clogging of the very small vessels that supply the nerves (vaso nervosum) and the small arteries (vaso vasorum). When this is the case, there is a wonderful topical medication that can stop this burning pain.
I will list below your options for this:
take vit B complex, one with each meal
use Zostrix (normally for arthritis) sparingly (very sparingly) as directed and do not expect results for a few days
put 12 aspirin in wintergreen alcohol and apply every two hours to the most painful places
I do not like to use Neurontin because of the side effects, but Lyrica is a good alternative if the above does not work
A good podiatrist has a formula for a compounded med that you apply every two hours
There is a lot of help for both of the conditions I mentioned above.

Go to webmd and look up neuropathy. You spelled it wrong..then look up diabetic or vascular neuropathy. Peace
