You can easily get reinfected with gonorrhea after successful treatment if you have sex with someone with that infection. If you have a regular partner, then it's essential he/she gets treatment at the same time as you, otherwise you'll just pass the infection back and forth.

Some strains of gonorrhea are resistant to some antibiotics. When your doctor diagnosed you he/she should have taken a swab test that will check if your infection is sensitive to the antibiotic you took. Make sure you check the result of this about a week or so after.

If you still have symptoms a week or so after treatment, then see your doctor again. Even if you don't still have gonorrhea, it is very common to get other infections like chlamydia at the same time you get gonorrhea.

Yes there is a chance as it is possible you had contracted a resistant strain of gonorrhea.
And did you finish the course.
Have you had risky sex during the course or shortly after.?
You could have reinfected yourself.
Getting gonorrhea once does not confer immunity to the organism.

It depends.

1) Did you fail to take all the antibiotics, as prescribed?

2) Is it a resistant strain?

3) Have you had more unprotected sex?

If the answer is yes to any of these, then the chance of recurrence is pretty good. If all are no, then there is virtually no chance of recurrence.

Well I hope you learned you lesson the first time and you are using protection... but if you are not then you have a great chance of contracting it again. You should have gone back to the doctor after your first round of meds just to make sure it cleared up, but if you did not then go ASAP!!! And quit having unprotected sex! You are lucky that you got something curable and not HIV or something else!!!!

none if you have protected sex,,,the easiest and best solution..wrap it up...oh and know what kinda girl your messing with...

just take the antiboitics as the doctor ordered, watch for any s/s the infection might have reoccured...you might have to take a second round if the infection was bad.
if it would make you feel better have the doctor reteest you after the antiboitics are done,to make sure it has cleared up.

if the medicine was the right one then it should clear up. there is an increase of ciproxin resistance so you may need another form of antibiotic called cefixime. symptoms can take up to 3 wks to clear up. don't have unprotected sex so you don't re-infect

Good if you are still messing around without protection. If you took the medication as perscribed it should be gone. If you didn't or skipped days you may be in trouble. I would go back in since that can really hurt you long term.

You may need another course of anti-biotics as the infection may not be sensitive to the first course.
Also you may have contracted the disease again
Return to the GUM clinic if you are worried xx

If your body doesn't have the antibodies to combat the infection then you are likely to get it again. Wear a condom!!

if the infection is that bad you amy have to go for two rounds.. other than that chances are low unless you contrated it again.
