According to studies the initial blood sugar will rise then fall (the next morning). This is NOT a GOOD THING! Major rising and falling is a partial cause of diabetic complications and you DO NOT want those!! The alcohol study/information that I found is available below. Alcohol is NOT a good thing for diabetics in any stage and is certainly not 'necessary'. Have a great week!

alcohol lowers the blood sugar levels. now wine is sweet so be careful.
