yes it is still transmitted without any outbreaks or symptoms. Now if she has genital hepes and has an out break and u preform oral on her you will get herpes on the mouth vise virsa if u have a cold sore on your lip and preform oral on her she wil get genital herpes. But since she already carrie the virus it will always be there symptoms, or no symptoms sorry to be the bare of bad news

There is Herpes 1 and 2 ..........one is above the waist and the other is below the waist..........does that answer the question?
P.S. shingles is also a herpes virus caused from chicken pox still in the body.
Shinglesinfo.com for Consumers
This site about shingles is intended for consumers seeking information about this potentially serious, painful disease. Anyone who has previously had chickenpox can develop shingles.
Shingles (herpes zoster) is a viral infection of the nerve roots. It causes pain and a band of rash that spreads on one side of your body. Shingles is most common in older adults and people who have weakened immune systems because of stress, injury, certain medications, or other factors.

Yes, it is a sexually transmitted disease. If she has herpes, you do, too. Why endanger your health, use protection! Herpes is the "gift" that never stops giving.
Both of you should see a doctor ASAP for treatment. There are prescription medicines like avoclir (sp?) that help the outbreaks.
