my partner and i have had protected anal and vaginal sex. We've been talking about having anal sex without a condom. it's something both of us really want. Neither of us have ever had sexual contact with anyone but each other. Is there anything else i should know? i know about the very small chance of pregnancy...but if we're both STD-free, is there anything else to worry about?

What a wonderful subject and I'm surprised you could not find anything on the net already. Try these -

Since you both CLAIM to be clean this might be for you or your partner (I would have said friend but I'm not sure if this kind of activity is friendly, but hey that's just my opinion folks so don't get all hot and bothered) -

There is absoultely no chance of pregnancy

Risks, safer sex and HIV

There is a high incidence of transmission of Sexually Transmissible Infections through unprotected sex. Unprotected anal sex carries greater risks. The high concentration of white blood cells around the rectum, together with the risk of cuts to the rectum and that one of the functions of the rectum is to absorb fluid, increases the risk of HIV transmission because the HIV retrovirus reproduces within the immune system's T-cells/CD4 cells. Use of prophylactics and other precautions are a medically recommended way to lessen risk of infection.

Some manufacturers offer "extra strong" condoms designed specifically for anal intercourse. These condoms, while stronger, since spermicide is an irritant to both the vagina and the anus, it can make contracting STDs easier for either partner, and can cause complications such as irritation, vaginal E. coli infection, and urinary tract infection. It can also damage the lining of the colon over time and should be avoided in condoms and lubrication

A penis that was in the anus should never be put into the vagina without either washing off the penis or changing the condom, as this might lead to vaginal infections.

I've done it twice in the bum with my gf without protection. I don't think there's a chance of your penis getting a nasty infection because even if there was poop that gets into your urethra, the ejaculate will flush it out. Just to be safe, go pee right away after you are done to flush out any harmful bacteria.

The tip above is only if you know both don't have STD's. If you are unsure about your partner, or have been dating for just weeks, use a condom for sure!
