Some good starters:

Discrimination (the average salary loss is about $1000 per year per overweight pound)

Health problems and how they effect the ability to have a social life (physical activity level)

Self-confidence--the lower it becomes, the more depressed or anxious one becomes, maybe cauing him/her to eat more

I'm overweight and can tell you that it stems from many thing, traumatic experiences I was molested, at 3 uncle tried to kill me after, raped twice in my 30's I didn't become overweight until I found out that the stress I was putting on my tyroid form being anerxic and bulimic, also I watched my mother after having her 10th child not eating, my sisters also developed bulimia and drug addiction, Food for some is thier drug of choose I learned that in therapy. I also am sussuceppicle to being an alkie druggie which I was a pill popper, my ex said I was beautiful And not bragging I still am exept the extra 100 don't look good to me or any other person I'm solid I was athletic and now I'm crippled, BUT the pain and tv,society telling me loose that weight color that hair, wax your legs, wear diamond's ok I like that lol!But in all seriouness obesity is the no.3 killer of man, besides starvation cancer, heart disease,it's social, polictical, would clinton go after a 100lb aid NOT! it's alot of pressure when I was 132 People said your tall you look to thin gained a few lbs 20 oh you put weight on , you could develope heart diease. It goes on and on psycological, This is a competive world what about men and them being over weight women still find a50 ol over wieght man sexy. not for a woman though.I hope this is a good start, let me know amy

Start with the psychological effects. Most overweight people are depressed or were depressed before they even became obese/overweight. Some had a traumatic event happen to them that made them eat uncontrollably....others have a thyroid disorder which keeps the weight on, etc etc .That should give you a start.

Oh and don't call Jared from Subway...LOL He is getting FATTER and still eating that crap!!!!

You should look up articles and interview people. I know from experience that there are social and psychological effects from being over and under weight. When I was young I was really skinny - got picked on just as much as I do now and I'm only about 20 lbs over weight. You need some good questions, and people that you know - just ask people if they are happy with their weight - and how they feel.

Social effects would be like being passed over for hiring or promotion for less qualified slender person. Not being able to get a date and having fewer friends. You might even be able to talk about how all of america footing higher med bills due to obesity caused disease like heart disease and diabetes.
Psych talk about low self esteem and how a lot of people deal with stress with food and being over weight makes them eat more because they are depressed and have a bad self image.

This is an extremely braod topic. You could narrow by focusing on the causes of obesity, the health consequences of obesity, the social consequences of obesity etc. You could try arguing with obesity is a disease or not, about whether it is a disability or not etc.

The link below takes you one of many organization websites that might get you started.

I think you could write about obesity being a downward spiral. The age old I eat because I'm depressed...I'm depressed because I eat idea. Food is almost like a comfort drug. WHen people are bored or depressed they will eat to comfort themselves. However, in many cases, the obesity adds to their depression so they have a negative self image. This eating to comfort themselves causes them to put on weight which brings about more of a negative self image.

search obesity on the net....food is an addiction for some people just like anything else....they use food for comfort....and they are looked down upon it for that....most people have addictions....obese people are ridiculed for the consequences due to their physique...people who don't suffer from food addiction cannot comprehend this...they think people are just fat and lazy...good luck

Social...takes up too much space...humilated at airports, restaurants, anywhere really.......psychological....well they must be embarrassed and ashamed because they cannot hide it...clothes don't fit properly and look even worse...most over
weight people that I have observed tend to be more polite and friendly...probably cuz they hate rejection...I have watched all kinds of people..this is just my opinion

Geez...this sounds easy. A lot of people are over weight and even if they aren't they feel like they are. Ask some people on Yahoo Answers how they feel (psychologically).
