Over the past few years my triglyceride levels continue to drop. Currently to 54, but they seem to be lower each time measured.

Absolutely not. Although your body does need cholesterol for a number of functions, it does not need triglycerides. The triglyceride count is simply a measure of fat molecules within the blood. With your triglyceride count being low, I will bet that your cholesterol numbers are also low. What I would be concerned with is the ratio of HDL to LDL cholesterol. My triglycerides were 70 when I had my last blood work, and I consume a no cholesterol vegetarian diet with extremely low fat intake. 54 is a fantastic number.

I would be interested to know what your cholesterol numbers are? Are you taking statins?

Please let me know if you have a moment.

Can Triglycerides Be Too Low

IMHO most of these results are determined by each individual's unique body chemistry and can be somewhat altered by drugs, diet and exercise. I do not have a diet that many would find acceptable, but doc says whatever I'm doing is working, keep it up. I'm 60 yrs old. Each morning for breakfast I eat a fresh potato fried in coconut oil and butter, one egg OE fried in butter, a slice of pork loin, and a toasted english muffin, well buttered. I do love my butter. I go through a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips a week and have 3-4 apples a week. No alcohol/420 friendly. These are my blood results after a 12 hr fast ~ total cholestrol 113, hdl 56, ldl 50, triglycerides 34, PSA 0.6, TSH (thyroid) 3.89, and Blood glucose/sugar 100. However, all is not great as I am being treated for hypertension. My normal bp averages 140/90 without treatment. I get a moderate amount of exercise 3 or more times a week in summer and less in winter depending on snowfall.

I would look at your family history rather than listen to vegan boy. If your mother and father have histories of low triglycerides then you are probably okay. If you are eating a balanced diet which a vegan diet isn't then yes I would be concerned with my triglycerides falling to such a low figure and continuing to nosedive. If you have numbers that low than its possible that you are not getting enough naturally produces vitamins and minerals, which can't be absorbed naturally through supplements and such. They need to be taken in through proper diet.
