The question I believe you are really asking is, Can you kill someone with insulin undetected?

Only with the human recombinant DNA fast acting type, such as Humalog. If you are looking to kill someone undetected, this is the stuff. However, an autopsy would reveal the person died of in intense insulin reaction. If the person is not diabetic, this would be suspicious. If the person was diabetic, an overdose would be suspected possibly from the diabetic himself.

So you could probably kill a diabetic in his sleep if you pumped him full of 1cc of Humalog for it to not look suspicious. Most diabetics don't use syringes larger than 1cc.

You could probably pump a pump user full of 3 or 4cc of insulin and blame it on a pump malfunction, however, I believe the pumps have non-delivery safety overrides.

An overdose of insulin injected in a non-diabetic would look very suspicious. I once gave my non-diabetic friend a 0.05cc Humalog shot just for kicks. He ran around eating lots of candy and had lots of energy for a couple of hours. Weightlifters use insulin with similar gains.

I'm gonna say that the only test that would be necessary to determine if insulin was in your system would be a blood sugar test. That is assuming that the person being tested is diabetic. If the blood sugar test is high then there is no insulin, if the blood sugar is low or normal then there is insulin.

I knew (slightly) somebody who was murdered with insulin. Her husband was convicted of the crime.
This was around 30 years ago, so things were less advanced. She was not diabetic, but was in the hospital for a non-life-threatening problem, and he injected the insulin into her IV. The odd fluctuations in blood sugar recorded on her chart, combined with the fact that her condition was not considered life-threatening, provoked suspicion and led to the arrest and conviction.

Yes, any drug that you put into your body can be detected with the right test.
