i was wondering is it really that bad for a 18 year old to like me i mean we are both in high school. my mom thinks its a bad idea but i dont really think it is because the guy is really nice and wouldnt try to get me to have sex or anything. i know some people think its weird when a freshman and senior go out but whats the big deal we are both in high school and age isnt really a factor.

It really shouldn't be bad, but for some strange, weird and unknown reason, whenever this question is asked on this board, people assume that you're talking about sex, even now when you've specifically stated that isn't the case and it's not what you're talking about.

For example, look at the example by Jon O. above. What is "illegal" about going to a movie, going out to eat and having honest conversations? Massive arrests would have to be made throughout the land and you couldn't even ride in cars with people over 18 .

Where have these people received their law degrees, I'd like to know?

People do this every time this question is asked and the people on this board either can't read or they have to be clueless.

The fact that he's legally considered an adult is the big deal. I don't see a problem with hanging out together but as far as dating goes, you should wait until you're at least 16 or 17. There really is a big difference from 15 and 18, maturity wise. Your mom would probably feel better about that, too, if you waited. If he's really that important you might also want to introduce him to your mom.

It all depends on the people.. but if there will be no sex then there is nothing illegal about it.. but that being said, the maturity level between someone just starting high school and one that is about to finish, usually is a big gap.

no its not a bad thing the law states that the age difference is four years and you guys aren't four years apart or anything are you . If you really like the guy then you should go out with him.

when I was fourteen and a freshman I went out with a seventeen yr old senior so I dont think it is that bad. its normal to go out with older guys to a point. Id say let your mom meet him and get to know him and maybe if she gets to trust him she will change her mind.

it is not good for a 8teen year old boy to be dating a 15teen year old girl.... he should be with females his own age.... to U it may be just 3years difference and U2 are in high school.... but he should be more mature enough to see that it is not right..... Ur mom is really trying to protect U.... mentally U are not prepared for this.... wait til U are older to have a b/f..... get Ur education first....

i know that 16 will get you 20, years in prison that is. i think 15 might get you raped in prison. if you can't find someone your own age, then don't go out at all. just because it seems cool to go out with an 18 yr old, it's a bad, bad idea.

You need parental consent. It's the law because 18 is legal adult.

people might look differently at you....
but nevertheless, your age differences won't matter if your looks don't differ as much, like height .... as long as his' taller and looks a bit mature... then it won't matter... by the way, why care what others think when you found true love is in your presence!

I did that, and all he wanted was to get into my pants, being a typical horny 18 yr old, so I would agree with your mum, he might seem all sweet n caring now but sooner or later he'll show wut he's really about, so just be careful hun!
