I am a type 1 diabetic and before bed I test my blood sugar, depending on what my sugar is I take a snak of 15-30 grams of carbs. My favorite and one that works well for me is a yogurt. I keep both on hand at my house a reduced sugar one and (my all time favorite) horizons organic it has 30 grams of sugar so that works well when i need a little more sugar. Graham crackers and milk , or insatant oatmeal and hot cocoa are also a few of my other nightime choices. Toast w. peanut butter. or cheese and crackers. I try to make my snack with carbs and protein to keep my sugar steady throughout the night.

Some cheese and crackers, Ezekiel bread toast, peanut butter, cottage cheese... Need some protien and a small amount of carbs. Depending on your blood sugar level and your type of diabetes. Check with your Dr. and a nutritionist for some good ideas...

Try ExtendBar. It was developed by an endocrinologist to stabilize blood sugar for up to 9 hours. They have five flavors. My favorite is the peanut butter chocolate. They are currently offering an intro box with free shipping so you can try all. I've also seen them at Walgreens, but I've only seen 2 flavors.

Depends on how your body acts to foods. My son does chocolate chip cookies and milk. A sandwich and milk, cheese and crackers, peanut butter and crackers etc... The goal for a bedtime snack is to release the glucose slowly not rapidly so a fat reduces how quickly it turn to sugar.

I wouldn't describe it so much as 'healthy' as much as harmless:

Sugar Free Jello

A PB&J Sandwich made with sugar free jelly

A handful of nuts

Sugar free ice pops

Catching my drift?

hard boiled eggs, chesse, a peice of lunch meat with chesse, celery with peanutbutter, apple with peanutbutter. pretty much something with protien but a small amount depending on how late it is.

you really want to watch out for fruits in the evening as they do turn to sugar and you don't want a jump in the middle of the night. it takes longer for fruit to turn than juice.

if you are having a low my doctor says to eat 3 lifesavers but at night to if it is a bad low just have a few sips of real soda.
