It's very hard not to go a little crazy when you get these kinds of tests done. I think everyone does, no matter what they say. Just try to stay as calm as possible. 90% of the things you worry about never happen (actual stress study). In the end, it is better to know one way or the other. If you don't have it, then you KNOW and you don't have this constant question weighing on your shoulders and you can start fresh with the promise to yourself that you will be more careful and responsible. If the outcome is not good, you can at least start learning how to start living a healthier life and get medicated. There are so many advances and medical breakthroughs for the disease. Many people are now living very normal lives with HIV. I know, because my cousin has HIV.

Take it. The chances of catching HIV are lower than you think. Even if you had unprotected sex with someone with HIV, you have approximately a 1 in 7 chance of catching it. Some statistics say the chances are even less. A woman who was in the news recently purposely had unprotected sex with dozens of men even though she was HIV positive. Only two caught HIV from her. (Not to sound flippant - this is still two too many.) If you don't think you've had unprotected sex with anyone who has HIV - i.e. you haven't found out an ex-partner has it - and this test is just to make sure, then you are most probably fine. Take the test and once you get the results you'll be able to relax again.

Also think about the other people you could be infecting if you were HIV positive. If you have it and you don't know, you will end up killing other people. How happy will that make you. If you did have it, your lucky enough to be able to start on medications to help you live a longer happy life. If you do have it & don't find out, don't get treatment, you'll die a painful, unhappy death and in a sence, me a "murderer" to others. You question oly relates to your self, not thinking of others. The test takes about 5 minutes. No big deal. Be smart, use protection. You also may want to look into other STDs ontop of HIV/AIDS

Hi there,
I had exactly the same problem for 5 years and eventually plucked up the courage to take the test a month ago. The test was negative and my life is so much better now. I used to lose sleep over it every night. I urge you to take the test for yourself and others.
Good luck hun

Take the test; if you have been infected, there are medications that can help you live a LOT longer. If you have been infected and DON'T take the medications, you know that it will finish you off. If you haven't been infected, then you'll know it, and keep using protection. Anyway you go, you lose if you don't take the test.

Please take the test. If you are hiv positive, not knowing will not make it go away. Also, if you find out you are hiv positive, you can take precautions with your partner(s) and find out what to expect in the future. If you find out you are not hiv positive, then you can rest a little easier and continue to use protection so as not to contract it in the future.

Take the test you will have so much peace of mind knowing that you are safe. Think of how you will feel if you find out you do have it and you are risking the health of other people. You should be fine...Good Luck!!
