this happens to me frequently when i my sinus' flare. i have chronic sinusitis. the blood is because of the amount of pressure that is building in your sinus cavity that it cause vessels to burst. if the antibiotics that your doc has prescribed is not clearing up your infection you are going to need something stronger.

If you not bleeding perfusely, don't have a fever, or headache then call your MD. If you don't have a MD, call your mother maybe you have had something like this in the past and she may know what helped last time? Some of your nasal membranes may have ruptured due to the infection. Green usually is indicative of bacteria, whereas yellow is indicative of a viral infection. Are you on antibiotics? If not, get on them. You can simply call your MD, if you have one. If you don't, then go to the pharmacy while they're still open and get a decongestant tonight. If you have a fever, take some Tylenol. If it gets worse, go to the ER. You will have a long wait though, due to it not being consider a life threatening emergency. Do you have a dehumidifier? It may help. Or sit in the hot shower mist. Or boil some water and put a towel over your head, this may help. But if you are bleeding perfusely go to the ER. Congested, any sort of steam will help. Vicks vapor rub. A decongestant. A Tylenol. And a good nights sleep, will help. Oh, Nightquil is good. Until you are able to see an MD for antibiotics/evaluation. With green and chunky blood I would advise it as soon as possible. If you have one, sometimes it takes just a phone call for help. He can call in a prescription for you, or advise you on what to do. Hope this helps. And hope you feel better soon.

I've had the same problem a few weeks ago...my second sinus infection in 2 months. I had some blood that was more from blowing my nose...and the dry air didn't help. A humidifier helped a lot...I suppose my nasal passages were kind of dried out also and i was getting dehydrated just from all the drainage. You should definitely check back in with your own physician and maybe a humidifier might help.

Sounds as if your sinus infection has gone a bit further than it should've done. You'll probably be fine, but any bleeding means you need to get it looked at properly - you'll probably need antibiotics to help your body fight the secondary infection.
Us Yahooers are NOT doctors. You need to see a doctor as soon as you can. In the meantime (tonight for preference!) call NHS Direct on 0845 4647 (yes, it's a very short number) and they'll ask you some questions, in effect giving you triage to determine what you'll need. They may get you to call your local out of hours doctor just to get the ball rolling...
Call a professional.

Strep throat. I usually get it like twice a year and you cough up yellow/green phlegm. There can be little specks of blood because your throat can get damaged from all the wheezing and coughing. If it isn't strep, it could also be some sort of respiratory or bronchial infection. Either way Go to the doctor, you need antibiotics. And if its strep its really contagious so I'd go soon.

You probably do have a sinus infection. See your physician immediately so you can start on a course of antibiotics.

You almost certainly need antibiotics. Go to the doctor first thing in the morning - don't be put off by the dragon receptionist, get an early appointment.
