Snoring cures almost all revolve around clearing the blockage in the breathing passage. This is the reason snorers are advised to lose weight (to stop fat from pressing on the throat), to stop smoking (smoking weakens and clogs the throat), and to sleep on their side (to prevent the tongue from blocking the throat).
Surgery is one option to cure snoring (for example a uvulopalatopharyngoplasty); dental appliances such as a mandibular advancement splint are another. There are many devices such as nose clips to keep the nose open and jaw mechanics to keep the jaw in the right position. A pinky ring is purported to reduce snoring through accupressure. Different aids work for different people. According to the British Medical Journal, playing the didgeridoo can also help.

I recently done what is called a sleep study. They can tel a lot from this, it is tome very interesting. As it ends up I have what they called sleep apney(sp) so in the end I was given what is called a CPAP. This is a forced air into your lungs. They have more than one method of getting the air, but it was recommend I have the mask I was given the option of that or one that just went under the nose. So far the only draw back I have had is dry mouth or some would say cotton mouth. One is taught how to clean this and all. They was able to find that I stop breathing at least 75% on the time. Not good, so I was not getting the sleep I needed. Now however, I do and I do dream more and seam to be a lot sharper during the day not as tired and worn out. Not sure were you are from but I'm in NC and they have several place that does this study. I'm sure there are others in the country. I also had my tonsil removed and that hanging down part in the back this did help some and for a awhile as well as drop some weight. But like every one the older one gets the harder it is to keep the weight off and that comes with slowing down more. Not near as active as I once was. 20 yrs in the USMC help keep that down. But your best bet would be one of those machines that helps you breath, costly I'm sure but if yo have any kind of insurance that will help a great deal.

A cautionary tale...
When I was a schoolboy we went on a 3 day course where we slept over in dorms. One chap had a dreadful snoring problem so we decided that stuffing a sock in his mouth when he was sleeping would be a good cure. He started wheezing and twitching and turned a funny colour so we removed the sock and woke him up. It turned out that he'd broken his nose when he was younger and could no longer breathe through it. We nearly suffocated him to death. Socks are not a good way to control snoring.

snoring is natural, some do get it some don't and it's not true that only fat people snore, the best way to reduce snoring is to learn how to keep changing your sleeping position intermittently while asleep.

If you sleep with a snorer just give a short sharp whistle when they are in full throttle and their snoring will stop for long enough to allow you to get to sleep. I find it works with my husband.
Or you could move out.

You can try the snoring strips that open the nasal passageways. It maybe that you need to go to the doctors though if it serious as it can develop to sleep apneoa which literally means stopping breathing as you sleep.
I reccomend going to the docs anyway
