i have always been told 6 weeks the first time and then every 3 months from then on out for as long as your having unprotected sex.

It depends on the STD. Get checked about 2 weeks after having unprotected sex, for some of the more common STD's that can appear quickly. Then get checked again about 6 months later for things like HIV, which can take a long time to be postive on a test.

The sooner a health care professional knows about your concerns the better. You can call to make an appointment the same day but most std's don't show up right away. Even if you get tested within the first two weeks most doctors would recommend a retest in six month and another in one year

Usually they recomend 3 weeks to 3 months after you had sex with that person. Most of the STDs can be detected by the 3rd week except HIV which can take 3 to 6 months to be detected in your blood.

You cannot be sure if you have HIV or another STD unless you get tested at least 3 months after sex. It can take up to 6 months after infection for antibodies to show up on a test.

I may wait no more than 30 days, however, HIV can take up to six months to detect. If u had symptoms, go right away.

everyone is different. Sometimes a week or so, for some diseases a couple months.
