A condom is 99.98% effective in protecting you against std's. They other contraceptive that beets the comdom is abstanance so it is all up to you. Please though don't have sex without a comdom it is by far the stupid thing anybody could do,

It will protect against most STDs, including HIV. However, it is not 100% effective.

It will also prevent pregnancy 98% of the time. The problem is that people often put on a condom too late - it should be put in place before ANY sexual contact.

And of course, condoms cannot prevent transmission of lice, or HPV, which typically affects more than just the penis.

Condoms = safer sex, not 100% safe sex.

The only option that offers "enough" protection is abstinence. And yeah, that option stinks.
