Weight gain or loss. Because your body is trying to compensate for lost fluids and sugar, you may eat more than usual and gain weight. But the opposite also can occur. You may eat more than normal, but still lose weight because your muscle tissues don't get enough glucose to generate growth and energy. This is especially true if you have type 1 diabetes, in which very little sugar gets into your cells. In fact, most people with type 1 diabetes are at or below their normal weight.

Yes, it is possible, but it can be difficult to lose the weight and manage blood sugars. Have doctor help you. Check your insurance policy, some have weight loss benefits, dieticians, nurses to help you. Check local resources, the YMCA, Curves. I bet doctor is going to be not happy when he/she sees your hA1c lab results! Do the things you know to do. Lay off the sugar and the junk food, do not buy it. 6 meals a day, with the protein and the carbs distributed evenly between them. 5 servings of veggies and fruit. Get a copy of the food pyramid, and use it. Set a small goal for yourself, like I will lose 2 pounds in the next two weeks. Or, I will walk around the neighborhood everyday for 15 minutes. And when you meet the goal, set another one. I will lose 2 more pounds. I will walk for 17 minutes. It is will power, and motivation, and some knowledge. Find a friend to walk with, walk the dog, or the neighbors friendly pooch. Plug into some music. Get a cheap $5 pedometer from Wal-mart, and use it. I hear "Sweating to the Oldies" Richard Simmon's tapes are back out, they are available on tv commercial. You can stand the 50s and 60s music, buy them and use them.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

Because the cells do not receive nourishment and this causes weight loss. Taking insulin will help a person gain weight. That is also a challenge if you are trying to control weight. Best of luck to you!

If the weight loss is extreme it is because the blood glucose is too high. The body is trying to compensate and is eating the fat and muscle cells to supply the main organs of the body. I keep my blood sugars average of 140 and my body weight is about 10lbs over what I would like to be, so weight can be gained.
