i need to know what is happening to my friend who suffers pain & itch at her outer vagina... around the labia area..

Why is your "female friend" telling you this? eww.. anyways.
It's probably a yeast infection, but she is the one that needs to find that out, you can't tell her or diagnose her thru a computer.

This is only a guess,but did she change detergents or soaps. Certain underwear can cause this if your alergic to the fibers. I wore wool slacks once and only once when I was younger. This condition is very ucomfortable so don't make it worse by using anything unless it's reccomended on the package for that area. Or you'll find out the hard way,it really gets worse believe me. Oat meal soaks can help I'm told.

this could be a yeast infection or vaginitis. Yeast infections can be cured by over the counter creams, but the best thing to do is visit a gyno- they can diagnose it so that the next time, the symptoms will be recognizeable and can be self treated. It could also be allergies to fragrance found in certain lotions, bubble bath, etc.

She needs to see a doc to get this diagnosed. It could be anything from an infection to just dry skin in that area. Without seeing her in person there is no way to know for sure what is going on.

sounds like herpes. But she needs to make a doctors appt. to get checked out. It could be something else.
