I use Potassium and Magnesium supplements. According to one website I looked at, Vitamin D is also an important for stabilizing your blood pressure. Diets low in salt will help reduce your blood pressure as well; it is best to eat fresh fruits and vegetables rather than eating canned foods since salt is used in most canned foods to preserve the contents. Also, if you are overweight (like me) you may want to try to increase your exercise...walking is a low-impact activity that will surely help to reduce stress and weight, and it requires no equipment or health club fees. You may also want to get your thyroid checked to see if that may be causing weight gain that could increase your blood pressure. You may also want to watch out for cold medicines because they will increase your blood pressure--try asking your pharmacist about cold medicines that will not increase your blood pressure. You may want to visit the websites listed to see more information.

Lisinopril is in class of drugs called ACE inhibitors. It is a very good medication. High blood pressure can lead to organ damage, and lisinopril has a protective effect on the kidney. 10 mg is still a very small dose. Most BP meds are started at a lower dose and then increased, to prevent your BP from going too low. If I were your doctor, I would recommend adding another medication to the lisinopril. That way, you get additional BP lowering effects, plus the added benefit of the renal protection. Your BP isn't drastically high, but is high enough to treat. You may have other risk factors that I don't know about, though. Your doctor can help you decide if you need to change or add a medication. The choice will depend on your goals and other health issues. Good luck.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

You could try Hawthorn Berry capsules. It helps to stabilize blood pressure, whether high or low. It doesn't have the sexual side effects either.Hawthorne Berries contain powerful antioxidants and natural bioflavonoids that support the health of the entire cardiovascular system. This herb can actually help regulate both high and low blood pressure, in addition to slowly breaking down cholesterol and fat deposits in the body.
You can get it at any vitamin supply store, such as Vitamin Shoppe, Rite Aid, etc. Follow the dosage on the label. Make sure to get a reputable brand, such as, Twin Labs, Solgar, etc.
You can google Hawthorn Berries and read even more about this supplement.
