Hi
I have been a diabetic for 22 years and just found this website about 3months ago. This is a great website for diabetics.

Your husband NEEDS to take his insulin. I commend your efforts to get him to be healthier. If he takes his insulin on a VERY REGULAR basis, he will stop feeling low around 140... he only feels like that because his body isn't used to having such a low blood sugar. If he takes it regularly, he will start feeling low around 70, when you're supposed to feel it. When his blood sugar will be around 120. he'll feel healthy and energetic. It doesn't take long for his body to adjust to the new blood sugars -- only around a few days. Before you know it, he'd be much more comfortable, the way you and I feel all the time. Maybe this will convince him? I promise it's true. If he doesn't take his insulin, he WILL die. I'm sorry. But it's true. He needs help. Good luck and God bless.

You need to discuss diet with your doctor. I don't know what kind of medication or the dosage you're using. Nor do I know your weight or your glucose readings. Your doctor can advise you on the appropriate foods and caloric intake that would be right for you.
