My son has asthma and allergies so we go with the good ol artificial tree.

It may not be the tree you are allergic to. Trees have all sorts of things growing on them. If you must get a real tree, make sure you rinse it off well before you bring it into your home. There may be mold or other kinds of dust on the tree that is making your allergies worse. You may want to consider using an artificial tree. But again, keep it dust free.

None have really bothered me which surprises me. In the past I've had a professionally flocked tree (snow but the whole tree is covered and once it is it requires no watering etc) It works nice and I didn't notice any symptoms.
