Braised Short Ribs in Wine
Servings [Reset]
Keys : Beef Meats Alcoholic English England Uk European British
Ingredients :

4lbBeef short ribs -- cut in
Serving pcs
Flour
Salt
Fresh ground pepper
3tblVegetable oil
12smPearl onion -- peeled
1cupCelery -- coarsely chopped
1/2cupGreen pepper -- coarsely
Chopped
2cupRed wine
1tblSavory -- chopped

Method :

* Rinse the meat and wipe it dry, then dredge it in flour seasoned with salt and pepper. Heat the oil in a heavy stewpot and sear the meat on all surfaces. Stir in the vegetables and cook, stirring, about 8 minutes. Add the wine and the savory, and sprinkle lightly with salt and freshly ground pepper. Bring the liquid to a boil, reduce heat , and simmer the stew 1 hour, or until the meat is tender. Skim off the excess fat, and serve with mashed potatoes or cornmeal mush.

as an eater and not the cooker of this i can say it was mother's glazed Swedish ham meat balls in an old candle light chaffing dish, it was something like a two day ritual to mak'em. about the size of a golf ball and if she cooked forty pounds of them(keeped in the oven ready to go) they were still gone in a heart beat at the parties

I love Greek food!! Spinach pie, cheese pie, fried cheese, feta cheese, svlecki, pita bread, tzaiki sauce, even octaputus!! I love it all!! Now, I'm making myself hungry for Greek food!!
