It takes longer than 2 days to resolve non specific urethritis (NSU). It is true that after 1 dose of antibiotics some people are no longer contagious but I would not wish to expose another until I have completed a 10 day course. It is true that zithromycin is used as a 3 to 5 day course of treatment for NSU but I do not recommend this as I do not believe that the success rate is much above 50%.
