Diabetes is presently the #1 topic of research other than 'cancer' and as cancer is a vague term you may consider diabetes as the #1 topic. The incidence of obesity and diabetes is rapidly increasing and this is in large part responsible for research interest. Research follows a money trail and where a drug company smells money the offer research money. It is true that the treatment of diabetes has improved dramatically in the past 5 years and the next 5 years are expected to be exciting as well.
