The Syracuse, Binghamton, Ithaca area would be ideal but anyplace else, other than the New York City area is ok too. I found an Italian pastry shop in Flushing, NY that had the most fabulous Cannolis I have ever tasted but that is a five hour + trip from my house.

Silversid. Yes they have them at Wegman's but they are not made on the premises. Also after eating the cannolis in Flushing, I am no longer interested in the Wegman's cannolis. They simply do NOT compare

All cannolis are NOT ALIKE. I have to tell you I went to Italy last April and could not find great Cannolis there. The cannolis in Flushing are AMAZING, BETTER THAN THE ONES I HAD IN ITALY. Ok, the person who KNOWS what a GREAT cannoli should taste like and who has actually eaten one somewhere in New York State except for the NYC area and can tell me where that place is will get BEST ANSWER FROM ME.

Margaret B. I am soooo jealous. My grandmother was Italian too, but she never made Cannolis. She used to make a delicious pastry called Sphingi which were like doughnut balls dipped in honey. Oh god, they were soooo goood.

Just make them yourself . It's really not all that hard.
You will need a manual pasta machine :
Rolling the dough by hand to the necessary thinness is difficult and often leads to the dough sticking to the work surface, a manual pasta machine solves the problem. My machine is made by Villa Ware and cost less than $20.00
At least 16+ cannoli tubes also made by Villa Ware. You can use the recipe on the package
A 4 inch round cookie cutter
A large enough pot or mini-fryer to fry the cannoli in
a pastry bag with a star tip
Until you get the hang of how tightly to wrap the dough around the tube you can expect a 25%+ failure[ cracked shells] rate
The shell is fried with the tube in it. That's why you have so many tubes , you don't want to be removing shells from a metal tube that has been sitting in 375 degree oil
Use only well drained whole milk ricotta for the filling
If you need to chop candied fruit for the filling a food processor works wonders

MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I love cannolis's. I am Italian and my mother makes them from scratch. But now that she's old, I can only find close ones to my mom in Brooklyn, NY and Manhattan that are similar to hers. Good luck.
I am going now, because I am in the mood for one.

To the person above me, if you were really Italian wouldn't you know that cannolo is singular and cannoli is plural? You don't need to add an "s" to the end!
