I was looking into something kind of sweet or salty. I checked out the popcorn factory, and fanny mae. I don't want to send flowers or a fruit basket.
What I think would be best for them would be some kind of mixed treat basket. (like cookies, candy and popcorn...things like that)
What do you suggest for a great basket, that is worth my money? I am hoping to spend $60 - and under. Not too cheap, but I'm not made of money either.

Thanks for the ideas so far! I am looking into buying a basket, because I will not be able to get out of the house for this holiday season.
The other thing is that the family I am buying for mentioned that a food basket would be perfect for them, because they will be entertaining a lot.

Our local Walmarts have whole row of holiday gift style baskets.
Or
Swiss Colony has a nice selections of holiday gift baskets are varying prices. Look for one that is postage paid. I have used them before and my friends have enjoyed them. They are catalog or web only ordering.
http://www.swisscolony.com/home.jsp
or
Hickory Farms is also nice. Ordering can be done on website or at store. The website shows gifts under 50.00. It also can show you locations near you.
http://www.hickoryfarms.com/
or
Cherry Moon Farms have some really neat ideas as well.

Or you could use these sites to get an idea and then make one of your one. I really liked the one at Cherry Moon Farms called Movie Night. It had pop corn, assorted movie theater style candy in a popcorn bowl. It would be easy to create on your own copy of it using candy and pop corn they like. You could add anything you wanted to it.
Also if you where you live there is a store were you can paint your own pottery. You could go there and pick a bowl. Paint it to say Popcorn on the outside. It would be a great personal touch. I must warn you that at our local store the pottery and paint charges can make it expensive.
Happy Holiday.

Costco does some really nice baskets that are very reasonable.
You can also make your own by buying an inexpensive basket at a craft or thrift store and filling it yourself. Remember that the commercial ones usually have stuffing in the bottom, I stuff the bottom of mine with things like oranges and nuts in thier shells and pile the goodies on top.

Great idea!! Make a movie night basket for the whole family. Catch a couple of good sales on DVD's - I got a ton for 3.88 @ Wal-Mart. Add snacks like popcorn, mixed nuts, Chex party mix, assorted crackers & movie themed candies like chocolate covered rasins, jordan almonds, sugar babies, etc......very affordable & perfect for the whole family.

A snack basket is a great idea, but how about adding a gift certificate to rent some movies, DVD's? You can put popcorn, candy, nuts & other goodies in with it.

Snack Basket
Make your favorite family this fun collection of snacks and treats that they will love. Pack the treats in a basket. Makes a great gift. If you cannot find any of the items, or don't want to make them, just include more of the other items or other treats your recipient will enjoy.
1 container or basket
Clear plastic treat bags
The selections are endless.
Snack Mix (trail mix)
Gold fish
Cookies
Popcorn Balls
Gummy treats
Dried assorted fruits
pistachios, cashews,
baklava,
chocolate covered cherries
a bottle of sparkling cider.
Godiva dark chocolate pretzels, cabernet black pepper cheese spread and cheese knife, honey mustard pretzels, Godiva dark chocolate hazelnut almond biscotti, mozzarella cheese swirls, old-fashioned peanut brittle, Ghirardelli milk and dark chocolate, cinnamon roasted cashews
Take the treat bags and fill them with as many of the different ingredients as your container will hold, with one type of item per bag. Arrange the bags in the container so that the items cannot tip over and spill out. Store in a cool, dry place safe from snackers and pets until you are ready to give the gift.

My husband and i always send The swiss Colony Christmas tower to his parents. They live on the other side of the country so i wouldnt want to make my own. Theres everything from cheese, candy and chocolates in there. They always have a big family affair and share this with everyone. Its available for under $60.00 and there's free shipping.

I think a better idea would be to just send the parents a card. Also send the kids cards with 20 or 25 dollar gift cards to best buy or wal mart. Better that than some basket that they aren't sure how long to keep on the counter before throwing out. Think about it......would you want a basket of pop corn or waxy greasy meats and cheeses?

They have a ton of great foods but this is my recommendation. I've done it for several friends and it's a hit with everyone. For $49.95 they have 12 ice cream balls that look like snow balls. They're really big and come in these incredible flavors. They're pack with dry ice so there's no chance of melting. It will give them a great dessert for a few meals and I guarantee they'll love it.
