They probably have way more sex with different girls than any average person does, so why don't we hear of them having AIDS. I know Magic Johnson had STD, but it's only one celebrity compared to almost thousands of them. Sometimes it makes you question if AIDS is something that was made up to push religious agenda. I'm just asking.

Well, there's a big difference with being HIV positive and having AID's. Simply put, HIV will cause AID's. HIV is the virus that attacks your immune system and AID's is the resulting condition of health (i.e. being susceptible to disease and unable to fight common bacterial invaders). It can take as long as a decade from acquiring HIV to finally having full blown AID's.

People like Magic Johnson are able to repress the onset of AID's through a complex and expensive regimen of medical treatments. Even though he seems to be perfectly healthy, he requires many types of medicine off-screen. The fact that he can afford them differentiates his health care than with that of a non-celebrity.

Celebrities may have a lot of STD's but many STD's aren't really a big as deal as you would think. Gonorrhea can be cured with a pill a day for as short as a five days. Chlamydia can be cured with a single dose of anti-biotics. Herpes can be repressed, though never cured, but have periods of dormancy so a person's lifestyle is not really heavily affected.

The only celebrity I know with a serious disease is Pamela Anderson with, I think, Hepatitis C? But she claims to have gotten it from a dirty tattoo gun.

But anway, an STD is a loosely associated word. It can be easily used as a scare tactic but in reality, STD's are more common than you think but less serious than you think IF treated early. I believe the HIV virus cannot live outside of the body for more than a few moments as well, so contamination from spilled blood is not too likely. If you could catch a common cold from sex, then a cold would be an STD. Not so scary huh?
Well, it shouldn't be taken likely but not be used as a scare tactic.

My bad, kinda rambled on, huh?

Well, I'm a nurse, hope that helped :)

Actually, nobody "gets" AIDS. However, one can get HIV which may progress to AIDS.

And, I'm certain that many "celebrities" have HIV. The reason you don't hear about it is because it's a private health matter. And Private Health Matters aren't any of our business.

Celebrities are just as susceptible to Aids as us common folk. Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Glazer(wife of Michael Glazer), Freddy Mercury, Magic Johnson are just a few.

Actors use their body as part of their crafts...so perhaps they are more cautious and use protection more.....either way....no one is immune to getting it. We all can get it if we don't take precautions.

Sounds like you think Aids might be a conspiracy theory if you think it might be a religious agenda. If you think that way...do you think cancer is a government agenda?

I've know two people who died of Aids...so no....I don't think its a religious agenda.

Think of the population of the world. (6 billion)

Now think of the number of celebrities in the world. (100,000?)

What % of the world has aids? (0.2%?)

So by those figures 200 celebrities have aids.

Now, before you say "no way, there are not 200 celebrities with aids" do one thing.

Name 100,000 celebrities!

they do get it. you don't have to tell the public everything about yourself. medical information is protected, and celebrities have a right to privacy just as you do.

Announcements by various celebrities that they had contracted AIDS (including actor Rock Hudson, basketball star Magic Johnson, and tennis player Arthur Ashe) were significant in making the general public aware of the dangers of the disease to people of all sexual orientations. Ryan White was a person with AIDS , in the 1980s, he drew worldwide attention due to his infection. It has been speculated that the reason White got so much attention was that he was a heterosexual white middle-class boy, as opposed to gay men and intravenous drug users who were normally associated with the disease. Ryan became infected with HIV from a blood product, known as Factor VIII, as part of his treatment for hemophilia.

One of the best-known works on the history of HIV is 1987's "And the Band Played On", by Randy Shilts. Shilts contends that Ronald Reagan's administration dragged its feet in dealing with the crisis due to homophobia, while the gay community viewed early reports and public health measures with corresponding distrust, thus allowing the disease to spread and hundreds of thousands of people to needlessly die. Shilts also details the fact that the Red Cross refused to ban bisexual and gay men from donating blood at the request of the Centers for Disease Control early in the discovery of the epidemic to keep the blood bank industry from suffering shortages. Thus, tens of thousands of hemophiliacs and transfusion recipients were infected and died. Great progress was made in the U.S. following the introduction of three-drug anti-HIV treatments ("cocktails") that included protease inhibitors.
