AIDS is the disease caused by the virus HIV. A person is considered to have AIDS when their immune system because very impaired due to the virus and their T cell count drops below a certain level. With such a weakened immune system the person cannot fight off simple infections or keep down the levels of usually benign bacteria that inhabits their body. Because of this, the person usually falls very ill. People with HIV are also prone to particular types of skin cancer and other forms of cancer and most people HIV positive people usually end up dying from complications arising from HIV and not the damage from the virus itself. However, if this does not happen the virus will eventually kill the person in time.
Some people can keep the levels of the virus down and their T cells count up by taking a combination of medications many times a day. This can bring someone with AIDS back to fairly good health for a number of years but the person is still HIV positive even if the levels of the virus have dropped so low that they can't be detected.
A few individuals with HIV, such as the actor JM.J Bullock, have been HIV positive for over a decade and have yet to suffer any major symptoms though they have not been on any medication. Scientists aren't sure exactly why the virus acts differently in different people and why some succumb within a few years of being infected while others have been infected going on 20 years now and still haven't fallen ill from it.
There is no cure for HIV though.

there is no cure for aids there no shots the only thing there is for aids is AZT I think it is if I know my information and other drugs. I also have heard that depakote has worked on aids but other than that I don't know munch information. What you have is ask your doctor there is always a new a drug to prolong life. there will someday be a cure we just pray. there is a reseach. Magic Johnson was never cured but you can be controled like anyone else. I will pray that you will get your treatment.

Unfortunately,no there is no cure at this time. Magic Johnson is still infected however, like many people including myself He is Undetectable. which simply means his viral load is below 50 copies and V.L. tests can NOT detect a V.L. of below 50. There is some promising work being done on a vaccine so let's keep hoping P.S. December 1st is WORLD AIDS DAY So PLEASE let's Pray That this panademic will end someday GOD BLESS YOU,Cholito

There has been no cure found for AIDS and they may never find one because of the HIV virus's ability to mutate into other forms.

There is currently no cure for AIDS. Magic Johnson only has the HIV virus and not AIDS.
