It one of those Cold War era dystopian novels, maybe Brave New World, or maybe 1984, or maybe Farenheit 451. Anyone know for sure? Also, anyone know a website where I can look up sources of quotes? thanks -- Joni

No, it wasn't Ionesco's -Rhinoceros-. I never read Ionesco's work but I distinctly remember that quote from Brave New World or something similar. Thanks.

I found a quotable search engine on the net. I don't know if it has the quote you are looking for; but at least I may be able to point you in the right direction.

I think that quote was in the movie Fahrenheit 451. Toward the end of the movie; there are a collection of people who memorise books; and I think that quote is where an old man about to die is teaching his book to a young child about 5 or 6 years old.

I don't think the movie tells which book the old man is teaching the child though.

Joni:

It sounds like it's from "Rhinoceros" by Eugene Ionesco.

Good luck.
