With a group, I would say do something they can dish up themselves and something that would not take you too long to prepare. That said, you could do a crock pot of sloppy joe mix with a pasta side salad and maybe a cranberry jello mold for some festive color. Sloppy Joes are easy for you to fix, everybody loves them, and they certainly are not elegant! ;) OR...you could also do a large pan of Lasagna or a Pepporni Pizza Hotdish that everyone could serve up for themselves, along with a green side salad and the cranberry jello mold. Regardless of what you choose as your main dish, I would include a veggie tray with dip, chips and salsa, and cookies and/or bars for dessert. Feeding a crowd can be a big undertaking alone. So as much as you can prepare ahead of time will certainly help. Good luck and HAVE FUN!! :)

Hey girl I got this amazing recipe on the food network channel, and I tried it for dinner last night and it was a hit!
Its a 2 layer yellow cake (or white) with cranberry jelly in the center and white vanilla frosting on the outside.
start by baking 2 boxes of Betty croker cake in 2 9in baking round pans.
while you wait for the baking process, take a sandwich Ziploc bag and fill with some frosting, then make small tear in one of the bottom corners.
after baking and cooling, cut the top off one of the cakes and using your frosting Ziploc baggy squeeze frosting around the edge of the cake (this will hold the cakes together and keep the cranberry sauce in its place)
begin to spread the cranberry sauce.
now you can put the second cake on top and begin to frost the cake as a whole.
You can buy some dried cranberries to decorate the bottom if put on a cake pedestal or even on top of cake.
this goes great with champagne. a great recipe is in a large carafe half champagne (Italian champagne is best, but all others work well.) and half ocean spray cranberry juice.
serve into sugar rimmed (colored sugar in the cake section works best) flute champagne glasses.

I think the ham would be your safest. And the scalloped potatoes go good with ham. A green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, corn, rolls, a jello salad. Pies for dessert would be good. Don't forget the cool whip.
