Diabetes can be inherited from either parent.

Diabetes runs in families, the mode of inheritance is not completely understood. Having diabetes should not discourage people from having children, unless it can pose particularly dangerous risk for a woman with diabetes. Sometimes a person is able to control diabetes through diet, nutrition, medication and exercise. This is not a sometimes thing. You have to do the work your pancreas cannot do ALL THE TIME. However, even with the best management, some people have complications because of other things. For example, there is a kind of Diabetes that is secondary to cystic fibrosis and is very difficult to manage. In some people the liver produces large amounts of glucose independent of what the person eats and how they use medication. With more being understood about diabetes, the quality of life and life expectancy is getting better all the time. Stem cell research will hopefully lead to a cure in the future.

Type 1 Diabetes can be passed down through families but ,as others said here, with proper care a person can lead a very long and good quality life.

Your second question about whether it's dangerous for a man or woman with diabetes to have children...If you meant should a person with diabetes have children because of the possiblility of the child developing it; well, it's up to the parents and whether they want to take the risk or not. Type 1 runs in my family and I did have kids. My youngest was diagnosed when he was 13 but he's leading a very good and happy life. It's just part of the risk you take of having kids and being a parent.

On the other hand, if a woman has diabetes, type 1 or 2, she should get her doctor's opinion first before she decides to have children.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

I am not sure of the life expectancy.
A father or mother can pass diabetes on to children, but that is where it can get confusing. From what I have gathered, there is a marker put on a persons DNA. This marker when matched with another marker can pass diabetes on. Though it may not happen with more than one child. For instance, my brother has diabetes, but I do not even have the marker on my DNA.
So it is debatable whether or not it will be passed on, though there is a tendency for it to follow in families.

As others have said here, diabetes can be inherited. As to how/if it can shorten your life, it depends on how well the person controls their blood sugar. It is the out of control blood sugar that leads to early death. The high blood sugar creates profound wear and tear on multiple organs in the body, including the heart, kidneys, arteries, brain, etc. Left unchecked, this wear and tear leads to early failure of the effected organs and then death. So most people do not die from diabetes, but they die from chronic conditions created by out-of-control diabetes.

I hope that helps.

Yes, diseases like Diabetes can be inherited or developed due to a poor diet. Type I Diabetes is tough, Type II can be avoided with proper diet and exercise. A mother and a father can pass genetic afflictions to the offspring.
