Well I think you're eating some kind of plant sex organ. Isn't that funny? We also stick our noses in flowers. We are dirty, dirty people.

A nut's not sperm. It's an embryo, like a chicken egg.
If we're relating it to human terms -- the sperm and the egg already got together and made a fertilized egg. That's what the nut is.
The nut is just waiting to be dropped, so it can get in the soil and sprout.
Nuts are hard on the outside to protect the embryo from being eaten. Some mammals have figured out how to open them, though.
On the other hand, fruit wants to get eaten, so an animal can carry it in their bellies far away, and poop it out somewhere else, because the seeds aren't digested. That helps to "spread" it.

A nut is a seed, so in a way it is like a fetus of a plant. The equivalent of sperm is pollen, which fertilizes the ovaries in a flower.
The nut has DNA and proteins in it, but it also has oils, carbs, and proteins which are there to feed the plant when it sprouts, before it has roots to feed itself.

When you eat a walnut, it's like you are eating the potential for a whole tree! What if that tree had been you?

It is the seed and the bible says that seeds and veggies are fair game. But what ever it is it is healthy.
