Depends on the virus. Some viruses like nerve cells. Some like eptherlial cells. Some like immune cells. For example, HIV likes to inhabit immune cells called CD-4 T-cells. Herpes simplex viruses like to hide out in nerve cells, either at the base of your spine (sacral ganglion) or in your upper jaw.
