People who have poor sleeping habits usually experience this. A high sodium diet or drinking water near bedtime can cause fluids to be retained in the eye. Normally, this should not happen. But poor sleep causes the body to forego some functions, like deal with water in your eyes.

That is why most beauty gurus recommend a cold compress to get down the swelling (it is similar to swelling in some injuries). Also, since it goes away as the day passes, that means that it is nothing serious, and is most likely related to a habit, like sleep :)

This is just a general retention of liquids in the skins, I wouldn't worry about it if I we're you.

probably just water retention. Try cutting salt out of your diet for awhile and see if that helps.
