peace and blessings to all,
i am a very devout Muslimah. as of now i wear hijab and loose clothes always but i'm wondering about the niqab.

how many think it is necessary?
where do you get your reasoning? quran? hadith? the masjid? your family?

**i heard a speech recently in which the imam said that the niqab becomes necessary when you're around someone who you know you are attracted to or is attracted to you. do you agree with this?

thank you all in advance for your responses
asalamwalaikum

*no reservations all i ask is respect

I don't think it's necessary. It's the culture in some places that women cover their faces, but it has nothing to do with the religion according to the majority of scholars.

However, I find it necessary sometimes. Not when I know I'm attracted to someone, rather when I am in a place that people are used to see women covered head to toe. In such a case, I think not wearing abaya & nigab would be provocative for people.

Salam. The Niqab is not necessary in my opinion. The Hijab comes from Iran, and few muslims wore them before the 1950's. The Quran says to dress modistly, and not draw attention to yourself. In the end its your choice.

This is correct, especially wear the niqab in front of you husband lest he want to do sinful acts with you in the sight of Allah.
Shall a woman defile herself in front of Allah? - No!
Every inch of a woman's skin is sacred therefore it shall be covered from the sight of evil men.
Allah will be very displeased if another man finds you attractive, likewise Allah will be displeased if you find another man attractive - therefore cover your eyes in addition to your face, this way you will see no evil.

The Imam told me the Prophet (PBUH) told me it was so.
