There is a difference between STALE BEER and FLAT BEER!!
You can get a cold beer and it could still be stale! It will be old and it will taste old. Quite often when you get a stale beer it is not flat. Stale beer still has the alcohol content of fresh beer, but it tastes nasty!
As for flat beer, there is nothing wrong with drinking a can of beer that's been sitting open all night. It does still get the job done. Unless it is exposed to high temperatures, the alcohol will still be there.

Ah yes nothing like the taste of a beer that has been sitting open all night..Flat / stale and warm... yummy! plus and open beer seems to attract cigarrette butts. Which gives flavor a whole new name!! :)

If you are talking beer, i.e ales and stouts, then nothing once exposed to air you have 3 days before it loses it's taste anyway. If you are talking lager, no way dude it will be flat and the taste comes from oxygen/nitrogen mix.

Oh I dont agree! I hate beer that is luke warm and has no fizz to it!
I am normally a wine and Vodka girl like so maybe i don't know much about the world of beers but i know it isnt meant to taste like that xxx

It just doesn't taste right! I usally drink Lager which is fizzy - so when it's been out all night it's flat. I guess it might be different for canned guiness and real ales.

It tastes like aluminium if it's from a can and I just can't handle that. If it was a bottle, covered and there were no smokers around then the dog that bit you... what the heck!

Alcohol evaporates slowly, but a can of beer opened for 24 hours won't kill you.

it's better after a day or two with a piece of pizza sticking from the top (a variation on mexican beer and lime) breakfast hmmm nice!

it doesn't taste as good as it did when it was first opened tastes a bit like vinegar....not that i spend a lot of my time drinking vinegar.
