I want to upgrade my PC (desktop) by exchanging the HD and installing a new genuine MS window XP (Professional), everything else will stay the same. The originally installed motherboard comes with a CD. What should I do? should I mount the new HD, then run the motherboard CD to install the motherbaord on the new HD then run the new windows CD, or it is not necessary to run the motherboard CD and all what I need is to mount the HD and then install Windows without running the motherbaord CD?

Its best to run your win xp cd then run your motherboard cd.

That way it will eliminate any potential conflicts.

Hope this helps...

While you probably don't need to run the motherboard cd, it's better to be safe than sorry
