If I was born in the image of God why do the pictures of Him never show Him as short, fat and going bald?

First off, all fanatics are bad--whether religious or nonreligious. Secondly, though we were indeed created in the image of God, sin has corrupted His image in us. Christ came to bring us forgiveness of sins, to restore the image of God in us, and to give us "life and life abundantly" both now and in eternity. This is good news! That's how much He loves us! All we need to do is accept His free gift. It's a personal thing between our heart and His. We don't need to join a religion or a church, but just join ourselves to Him! So ignore the aggressive, fanatical people--whether they are for or against religion--and follow your heart.
Because true Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship--a spiritual relationship with the living God!

in my opinion we were created in gods image which encompasses every human emotion be it good or bad and as the saying goes it would be a boring world if we were all the same as for religious fanatics these people would be fanatical even without religion as an excuse.

Ephesians 2:1-3 shows that people are affected by "the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit that now operates in the sons of disobedience."

2 Corinthians 4:4 describes this spirit as "the god of this system of things," explaining he has "blinded the minds of the unbelievers."

1 John 5:18, 19 says: "We know that every [person] that has been born from God does not practice sin, but the One born from God watches him, and the wicked one does not fasten his hold on him. We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one."

James 1:13-15 says: 'When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death.'

And finally, Matthew 7:13, 14 says: “Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it."

We can see from these scriptures, among many others, that:

1) Satan is the god of this system of things and as its god he exerts a powerful influence over the imperfect people in it.

2) There are those paying attention to the way they were designed and exhibiting good qualities, with God's help.

3) God is not to blame for the badness in the world or the sins that people commit.

4) The majority of the people in the world today are adversely affected by the Devil's spirit and are not on the path to life.

The Bible itself condemns the actions of fanatical religious individuals or groups who choose to overstep his commandments and take things into their own hands.

John 13:35 says you can identify true Christians by the love they have for one another, not by how willing they are to kill others who have differing political views.

I think you'd find a Bible study aid I read recently to be very helpful in your search to better understand the Bible's teaching. It's called "What Does the Bible Really Teach?" If you'd like to read it, I'd be happy to give it to you.

I wish you well!

When the Bible says we are created in the Image of God, the Hebrew word connotes spiritual image, not physical image. Simply put, we have emotions, volition--the ability to choose right and wrong, etc. Soul image, not physical image. People are a product of their own decisions, and should not Blame God, the devil, or their little sister for what they become.

It's a dichotomy - or is it just an irony?! Anyway, it seems that evil entered the world too and that's where the problem started. As for the religious thing, well people just think that they're right and everyone is wrong - and are prepared to fight about it

we're not, we're all created as individually as possible, it's what makes us all unique, as for all the evils in the world, it's just bad people trying to impose their will and their beliefs onto people without giving people a chance to make their own minds up and if bad, evil people dont like the fact that someone has a different opinion, then they try to hurt others and it's usually the innocent that get caught in the crossfire which is a shame really.

By being made in God's image, means that humans were made with the potential for being like God,possessing the outstanding qualities he has, including wisdom, power, righteousness and love. However,we were also given freedom of choice. And due to man's imperfection he misuses these wonderful qualities we all have been given.
