I don't believe l-trytophan is sold individually because in the late 80's or so there was a tainted batch and people died and the FDA pulled it off the market, all of it. It is forbidden to be sold now from what I understand.
I believe a product called 5-HTP is the precurser for l-trytophan and you can buy this. Or, try l-tyrosine or GABA.

Not that I know of, it just makes you sleepy.
