Who knows. An interesting study in 1948 does, however, seem to suggest pigeons are capable of superstition. Whether that equates to, or could lead to belief in a God is unknown.

What you're asking, ignoring the polemical tone, is whether animals are capable of the higher thought functions that are required to achieve empathy (speaking on behalf of another), or apprehensions of mortality (what seems to turn many people to God in the first place). I would say no, but it's not exactly clear.

Sometimes I have bad days where I have thoughts, that help me avoid being in relationship with my heavenly Father, for what ever reason I don't want to face him at the time. But he is always there, and always loves me. And after I wear myself out trying to avoid him, he accepts me back with a love and understanding I can barley understand. Just sharing my experience. God bless you, one and all.
