Further to my earlier question about me talking to a christain who said i would go to hell for being a non believer.... What about animals.. they dont have the intelliegence to go to church, pray or repent their sins before death and being as though we are all animals, (humans being just a bit more clever!) does that mean all the cute fluffy things go to hell?? Cos according to what all the christians tell me that must be the case! Or is there another scripture somewhere that your gonna quote me that "proves" me wrong?

Mrs badgrumbles....What are earth are you talking about dear.. in rebellion of what? That sounds like mumbo jumbo to me. Im not in rebellion of anyone. I just live my life, try to be good, commit no crimes and try to hurt as little as possible. So animals arent in rebellion? So why does my dog piss everywhere when i leave? In rebellion or just evil? Should i have him exorcised?

This is another of those issues that do not stand up to being thought about too deeply! Opinion seems to have varied on this - in the middle-ages, animals were thought capable of being guilty of crime, there are well documented cases of pigs, dogs etc being put on trial. If a creature has capacity for the Menes rhea - the guilty state of mind, it would imply that they are like humans, and therefore possess souls.
However most theologians these days seem to agree that animals have no souls and are therefore of no interest to either heaven or hell.
But we now know that we are animals too, that we have 99% of our genetic materials in common with Pan Troglodytes (heck, we have 70% in common with a cabbage!)
So what exactly is it that gives us a soul and not our close cousins, the great apes?
I could ramble on further - I have seen gimicks at churches were kiddies could bring their pets to be blessed! What is being blessed if they have no soul?

Well this is a very good question. Because Snake was said to be cursed to live in earth because of sin made with the first man and woman, right? And snake is animal, too.
To follow the logic, animal can go to heaven only when adopted by some resident angle.

You are starting from an evolutionary presupposition that humans are animals as well but if you read Genesis you will see that humans are the only created things which are made in God's image (Genesis 1:26)! This is why humans have souls - we are spiritual beings as God is a spiritual Being! When we die we live forever (being created in God's image) because God is eternal and lives forever!
Because the animals are NOT created in God's image then they are not eternal and when they die - they go to the ground and that's it! Animals will not go to hell for the reasons already stated (they are not eternal and created in God's image)!

I'm Catholic and do NOT believe that you will go to hell for being a non believer. My heart tells me that God loves ALL, and if he does why would he condem you to hell for not believing? I think, and I heard this from a priest one time, you don't get a free pass through the pearly gates, you have to do basically a meet and greet, and earn your way in, even after you pass away. You'll be schooled in the after life and work on getting through the gates. No free ride on earth, no free ride after wards. But I'm sure we'll all meet our maker some day.
By the way, a priest also once told us, the Bible was hand written by humans and there is room for error. Add in that it has been translated over and over again, it's bound to have some discrepancies, although not intentional, or at least we hope not.
Now I'm sure some holy rollers will bash me, but that's ok, I forgive them for getting ugly all over me.

Just to add I didn't tell Dave to go to hell. It just worked out that with what I believe and what Dave asked thats what we came up with....Sorry. Would not like Dave to go to hell as he's a top geezer. To be fair he's worked with the Navy which is not far off anyway. We do a Bible check to find out where the fluffy animals go for when you get back to answer question.

I am a Christian. Which religion will take you to hell.? You may take yourself to hell if you do the wrong things . It is a personal matter to save yourself. About the animals, for what they are needed in heaven? May be to be carried around with a leash, being taken to the celestial veterinary, to take out their fleas and ticks, to abuse them? Will they or you need the mutual love there? There are many examples like these that you can think of.

Humans are not "just a bit" more intelligent than animals. We are a lot more intelligent than they are -- just look at all the things that we can do and that we've accomplished, that animals cannot possibly do.
Animals do not understand the concepts of good and evil. Humans, excepting those who are too young or with mental disorders, do understand these concepts.
Animals don't have souls. When they die, they die -- it's over.
It doesn't work that way for us, though. When we die, we go up or we go down -- and the choice is really up to us.
The stakes are high -- eternity.

Hello Dave,
Animals although part of the fall are not in rebellion to God. So they don't need salvation. Hope that helps
Man is in separation from God because sin is a barrier and animals have no barrier, they know who their heavenly father is. I could go into the wheres and whys with quotes lol if YA WANT!!!!! MWHA HA HA HA

very good question. the problem with theory of you going to hell is that humans make mistake and these mistakes can be seen as sins. so are the Christan's saying they have never done a mistake before, and if they say they haven't then they are prefect but according to "god" no ones perfect this meaning that they made a mistake of thinking they are prefect, so they have done a sin ,which means that they will also go to hell like the rest of us, if their theory is right.

Lots of people wonder if there is a "doggie heaven"... There are indications in scripture that animals simply go into the earth ( dust to dust) but man, who has a soul, returns to face God.
