i am a 24 years old girl. from about 2 months and a half i felt a lymph node on my neck, it was really small. i went to see a docter about it, he said that it is better to get it removed and have a bioposy. he did get it removed, and it was diagnosed to be caused by a virus. the problem it that right after the operation i had a very big lymph node in exactly the same place. i went to see another docter, he told me that it might be post operation complication or something. he told me to wait and not to worry about it. it has been about 2 months and the lymph node is still visible but it has decreased in size a lot. is it normal for a lymph node to stay that long, and how long will it take to dissappear? could this really be post operation complication or is it something else???

This really grates my potato, doctors who remove important parts of the body with no real cause. A lymph node becomes swollen as it fights infection. The doctor could have done blood tests to rule out cancer instead of removing a vital tool in your body. My sons lymph nodes in his neck have been noticeable all his life, he is a slim child though. The likelihood of it being a post operation complication are not high, it is far more likely that another lymph node has taken up the slack for the missing colleague and is fighting twice as hard. See another doctor, not Dr Slice and dice.

when I was practising intern medicine I've found a few lymph nodes on my neck about 2 cm's,I asked a professor,he could not
find it by routin touching(palpation).
I asked him what woud he do if he was on my place:"Nothing"
and he was right(it was 10 years ago)
your question was not specific enough, you did not say it's size or other symptoms made by l.n.
