Does 'nt the word holiday originate from Holy Day. What English people call a holiday (as in seaside) the Americans call a vacation. So calling Christmas a holiday seems ok to me.

Christmas was not originally a Christian festival. People celebrated at this time of the year long before Christianity, for different reasons (winter solstice or Pagan festivals for example). The church adapted to it and found an excuse to celebrate at this time (claimed it was the birthday of Jesus, while everything suggests that Jesus was not born at this time of the year) so that converts could adjust more easily. In a multicultural society like the United States it makes sense to me to officially call it the holiday season, because not only Christians are celebrating and far from all Americans are Christians. I'm sure American Christians call it Christmas between themselves though.

Not all Americans do this SOME Americans do this. It is because of the media I think makes you to want you to believe this. But there are Christians out there Like me and my family who do Acknowledge Christmas. More then you realize. Its just the media and the news doesn't want you or anybody else to realize it or know about it. But there are a lot more American Christians out there that do STILL believe in Christmas. And trust me we are not happy that they are calling it happy holidays. It just goes to show that you do not know everything!

Christmas is referred to in Jeremiah 10 of the Bible as a vain babylonian custom of brutish fools. It is also referred to in Revelation.
Contrary to what Wikipedia says about Christmas it is neither truly Christ-ian nor the birth time of Jesus, which is provable from the Bible. It is mostly about commercialism, with black friday and boxing day being the two biggest shopping days related to it.
Christmas lies and fallacies are plentiful, seven of the most common, among so-called Christians churches, noted in the link below

The 25Th December was originally a pagan holiday and has no real connection with the Christian faith. I personally feel 'Holiday season' is a more appropriate term for this time of year.
I am neither American or Christian.

It is not a Christian festival in origin. It merged with a grew out of existing celebrations of the winter solstice. More importantly, it cannot be a celebration of the birth of Jesus because Jesus was not born in winter. The Bible states that the shepherds were with their flocks in the hills. If it was winter, the sheep must have been eating snowballs because there sure would be any grass there.

"American", and "money", have the same meaning.
Marketing is the epitome of all business endeavour.
Christmas is the best time, with usually cold days, and warm hearts, to enrich the coffers. Marketeers joined St. Nicholas (Santa Clause) and the holy time of Christmas days together to make it easier to fleece the caring, but ignorant people. Christmas has become a get rich quick scheme. No time for acknowledgement.

America is a land of greener pasteur...so, there are many immigrants from all parts of the world, all races, all religion, all kinds of eccentric belief.
That is the difficulty in ruling/managing vast, wider mixture of cultures, hard to blend nor tolerate, living beside one another.
As you have "the liberty" sign means freedom of religion but do it privately not public because everybody else are offended.
Before, Christmas were celebrated...but since Jews nowadays become vocal, offended, and reported public shows of xmas displays... so.......that`s it !!!
It is not being ashamed......it is your neighbor jews offended.

They're much too busy shopping to worry about such trivial matters. Today is the biggest shopping day of the year -- why aren't you out there spending? It's the American way. You must not be an American.
