It's been 60 days and not one room in the 3 bdrm home is packed, they claim it's because no one has helped. Spending 2 hrs helping pack I them realized why no one else was helping. My Friend had to be included in the packing of each box, specifically telling me how to wrap items, how to tape the box, and all the reasons why. I am 40 yrs old and worked for many packaging companies...I've even moved a few times, this was very insulting to me and I really feel I need to tell her how she is overpackaging everything, getting nowhere fast, and why she has no help. I need to get the point across for productivity.....not to make her cry and don't know what would be the best way to approach this situation.

Why is it your business how fast she packs? Are you the mover? Are you going to lose money if she is not out in time???? I cannot see that this is anything you should be addressing with her in any way unless you have thrown her out of the house because you are the owner or are impacted in some monetary or convenience related way.

That's a tough one. But more details would help me answer. Are they on a time deadline? Do they have to be out by a certain date? Are they in your house? If no is the answer to these questions, then leave it alone. Let her take her time, and just focus on your own things. She might be dragging her feet because she doesn't want to move, or she's just lazy and wants someone to do it for her. Don't fall for it.

sounds like a no win situation to me. If her feelings will get hurt and you want to avoid that then the best thing to do is say nothing. just let her learn the hard way. most people have to learn by trial and error. Its part of why we are put on this earth. to learn lifes lessons.

Maybe you could look on the internet and see if there are any tips for packing or moving house. You could show this to your friend and hopefully they will see that they are being over cautious and controlling..

Alternatively, maybe you could just leave them to their own devises, they obviously doesn't appreciate your expertise or help.

Have a quiet word with her - say that things would go a lot quicker if she would maybe do one room while you did another - reassure her that you can handle it on your own as you have done this for a living before
