I am visiting NYC for the first time this weekend. I arrive LGA in the morning and dont meet up with my friend until late at night. Is there a place I could store my luggage for the day?

Maybe at grand central or one of the subway stations?

Plus its my first time in NYC, any suggestions on where to eat, visit in 2 days?

Thank you!

They do not have storage lockers at LGA or Grand Central/Port Authority any more.

I think the better option would be to find a hotel that will let you leave your bags there. I don't know what the policy is on doing that for guests who are not staying, but it is worth a shot. (Maybe tell them you are checking in later?)

I found out just this weekend (under similar circumstances; a friend was visiting me in Brooklyn and we went to Manhattan during the day he was leaving and it was impractical to go back to Brooklyn for his luggage) that Penn Station DOES have a baggage check, but only for Amtrak or NJ Transit customers, so if you do decide to take a train to NJ, that would be the way to go. It's about $4/bag, it's located to the far left of the ticket counters in the Amtrak/NJ Transit part of the station. Otherwise, I second the idea to just check your luggage at a hotel. Although I haven't done it in New York (since I live here) I have in other cities. It is true that there aren't any storage lockers anywhere in Manhattan anymore.
