When I feel catching a cold, I make oregano tea.
Put some fresh or dried oregano leaves in a pot and pour very hot water.
Stand a minute and it will be light green color. It tastes a bit tangy, but it's good for your sinus and throat.

Actually in parts of Mexico, oregano is at least as popular as it is in Greek and Italian cooking. It is used in many dishes and will liven up any mix, especially taco spices! I use it a lot in my Mexican cooking. You have to check in the markets even here in Mexico, that you are buying real Mexican oregano, it is MUCH more pungent and flavorful than the cheaper and more common European brand.

(Once you try real Mexican oregano, you will never use the other crap.....)

No I use it mostly in bolognaise sauce. It is just a nice herb to add. Basil is a bit nicer though.
