When Lazarus was brought back from the dead by Jesus, we do not read of Lazarus preaching and teaching, you would think that after such an experience that it would be all that Lazarus could talk about. I am a believer, and trust in God. But why wasn't there a book of Lazarus, or at least more details about a man who was resurrected by Christ Himself?

Dear Chipper S,

The Bible doesn't explain why there was no book of Lazarus. i understand your thought process but at the end of the day it is only speculation. We don't wonder why there was no book of the lepors who were healed, the paralytic, the women at the well, etc.

Lazarus is a wonderful story that teaches us that God's plans are greater than our own plans and sometimes God's ways are not ways that we can comprehend. Most certainly Mary and Martha could not understand why Lazarus was raised from the dead instead of being healed days before.

i would apply that same wisdom to life. i don't think anyone can give you a satisfactory answer except for the Lord Himself.

We know that the Bible reveals to us what God wants us to know about Himself and gives us wonderful principals that we ought to live by, but it does not contain everything that we want to know.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

God's Word has some holes in it. this is probably one of them. Example, Genesis 1:1 says "..in the Beginning god created..." and then we read about ancient animal life more than 2000 year old. Did God lie?? No! Not at all. In Genesis God created the world as we know it now. Before that it was "..dark and void.." which may mean a planet without life. So then How many years are there between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2??? I don't know, do you?? One of those holes in the Bible that I believe God did not deem necessary for me to know or He would have explained it in His Word.
Also, God is not a braggart so perhaps He didn't elaborate on Lazarus to teach having a "humble spirit"? Just Maybe??

Well.... there might be. The Book Of John never claims it was written by John. It says it was written by the disciple that Jesus loved. There are people who claim this book was either written by Mary Magdalene or Lazarus. Obviously, the book was not actually written down until 90 AD so it probably wasn't personaly written by either, but the idea is that they may have been the original tellers of what was written in this book.

Lazarus was not a phophet. Lazarus was a friend of Jesus. The story of Lazarus is used as a testimony of Gods miraculous power.

Jesus performed many miracles to many others but that did not mean that these individuals who received such attention were not excited about it just because they were not chosen by God to write something about their experiences in the bible.Just like how Jesus had many followers and royal supporters including his earthly mother Mary and father Joseph, but could only select 12 apostles to spearhead the preaching work. You would want to know why Mary didn't write a book like Esther but that is no logical way of thinking.

I agree with that! That is such a exciting story, I really like that one, I've often wondered myself what became of him, but I'd have to believe that he did testify to it all the time, and the sisters too! What a miracle this was!
This is one of many miracles that Jesus did when He was here. Remember the Scriptures say that there would not be enough room to write all the miracles that He did. This was not a bigger deal to God than any of the other miracles that He did, He did so many and still does them today. Try to not dwell on it too much, He didn't, He moved on and did more miracles, most of them we don't even know! Yeah! If you believe, remember Jesus said you would do even greater things than He.
