I fear that you are so clever.
Yes, how can we trust any man when we don't trust God.
It means if we cannot trust our Greatest Giver, how can we trust the takers of our labor, our propperty, out peaceful living!

Dear Greg M,
First let me start by saying that i am a Christian and am a bit confused by the nature of your question.
Atheists are people just like anyone else and they have the capacity to trust and dis-trust people. Atheists demand evidence when it come to God (i'm not here to debate that issue- i believe there is evidence- many atheists believe that evidence is not sufficient). But that does not mean that they apply the same standards to every part of their lives.
i'm a youth/college pastor and my brother is an atheist (or at least one time professed to be- i think he's changed since he got married) but the point being that i don't believe that my brother distrusts me. He is a great brother and now husband and father.
Your question confuses me because it suggests that all atheists are paranoid and skeptic and my experience with some has been of that nature, but not all. And i think that Atheists may have certain stereotypes of Christians and will find too that some Christians fit that stereotype while others do not.
We shouldn't be so quick to label one another. i'm thankful for my atheist friends and out of love and concern for their souls i do wish that they would come to know God, but i can only love them and share with them and am thankful for the ways that they share and show me their love as well.
Kindly,
Nickster

There are varying levels of credulity and proof. Nobody applies the same standards to every situation, including you. Your insinuation that atheists do - and that _only_ atheists do - is asinine. (It's christian creationists who claim absolute certainty, not us.)
"Did OJ kill Nicole?" and "Will she slap me if I ask for her number?" are VERY different burdens of proof as are "Will he return $10 if I loan it to him?" and "Will the bank loan me $10000 if I ask?". Or, try these arguments on for size:
First case: You tell me it's raining where you are and I believe you without a shred of evidence, even though you are lying. If I check the newspapers or a worldwide weather website, I could and then you'd laugh at my gullibility.
Second case: You try to convince me that you're working for a legitimate charity and that any money I donate will go 100% to helping the unfortunate. Should I just hand over my credit card number, or should I check the charity's credentials and with a government tax agency and confirm it's legit? If your charity _is_ legit, you won't mind. If you're a thief and a conman, you'll pretend to be insulted or play guilt games ("Every moment you waste kills a child!")
The key question is not "Are you lying?" but "What harm does the lie do?" In this case nothing. It has no effect on me.
You are inferring that atheists do or should use the same burden of proof for both scenarios and all situations in general. If that's the case, then you should do the same.
You say you believe in a "god" without anything besides the bible; okay, fine. Give me your credit card and PIN numbers, I promise I won't use them to make illegal purchases. If you trust the bible to be true without evidence, then you should trust me without evidence.

I`m an atheist and I do believe in people. If I don`t believe in God it doesn`t mean I don`t believe in anything! Every morning I believe that today is going to be better than yesterday. I just don`t like the idea of everyone being under the control of this one creature. I don`t have anything against believers, on the contrary, I envy them for having something to believe in. The Church I don`t like. Why can`t women be at the same ranks as men? And why does God have to be a man? Don`t get me wrong, I`m not a feminist, but these things annoy me because men are in no way better than women.
In my country the Church has this twisted idea that they can control the country and decide which days of the week people can work. How can you believe a bishop who has a huge mansion and drives a BMW? That same bishop was trying to kick a college out of their building because the building was supposedly the Church`s in the 18th century. How can you trust people like that, regardles of your religious beliefs?

it somewhat is a tricky question for me in my opinion – i could tend to assert in the beginning up intestine feeling an atheist is a greater trusting individual many times. For various motives that i will bypass away out. yet in my very own journey i think of atheists believe human beings greater advantageous than the theist. The theist will love them nonetheless they don’t believe them however the atheist will love them because of the fact they believe them or something like that. I don’t understand i could would desire to meditate on that one, the two way solid question. Get the motor working early Edit: after examining a pair different solutions – you have been asking trusting as in human beings precise? as i think of theist believe God or destiny or what have you ever somewhat greater yet not unavoidably reason atheists believe their destiny additionally – spiritually they too are trusting in something whether that something is trusting there isn't something. So yeah the two way i think of atheist are greater trusting human beings many times.

Atheists trust stuff that makes sense to them. And they specifically make sure that no one gets killed just for believing something.
Who cares if people trust each other or not? Do people of the "faiths" trust people of other "faiths"? No. If they did, there would be no religious wars at all.
The atheists are too busy making sense out of their own world to pick fights with people they don't trust or whatever. I think they are ok in doing this.

Atheists are not necessarily skeptics. They generally weigh up the evidence and select the most likely conclusion. Atheists do not believe in a god because there is overwhelming evidence against its existence
caloco, your statement lacks logic

atheists dont believe without proof because, half of the time, religious beliefs are taught to them from a young age and you grow up oblivious that it mite not be true. why should we sit there in some church and be told to believe in a 'higher power' or suffer for eternity if you dont?? besides, you are obviously gonna believe friends and loved ones if they told you a story, for example, that happened to them at work, and they cant prove it to you.
