A male patient, 6 years old complains of multiple spontaneous ecchymoses all over the body but more in the lower limbs with insidious onset and progressive course. They first appeared about 5 months ago with progressive pallor and anorexia. Faded without treatment (except antibiotics!!) then recurred again with the same distribution.
No fever, jaundice, petichial hemorrhage or bleeding per mucous membrane. Normal stool and urine color. Average anthropometric measurements. No hepatosplenomegaly or lymphadenopathy. No bone tenderness or joint swelling.
What's your provisional differential diagnosis?

Clarification please: When you say "faded without treatment (except antibiotics)" do you mean that the treatment for the bruises was antibiotics and appears to have worked or do you mean that the patient was coincidentally taking antibiotics and the bruises just happened to disappear?

Why keep diagnosing the man's blood?

Its just allergy!

Treat it with Drapolene. Its mild for babies. Why not him?

And since it recurrs, check his diet and lifestyle.

EDIT:

May i ask WHY?!?

Why just focus on the blood? Or problems about the blood?

When these manifestations may have been from a different cause...

LIke an allergic reaction from something which manifests itself on skin...

Thanks!

Hi tech. questions, particularly on human health, appearing on this site, always worry me.

If you are a doctor, or more likely a medical student, and if I were you, this fluffy, lightweight website with more than its fair share of fluffy, lightweight users would be the last place on earth I would be looking.
