Funny how all those non- mormons or "mormon experts" jump to explain what Mormons believe.

Disregarding what others say we believe or not believe, or how others take our doctrines out of context,

In short, we believe in the following:

1 WE believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.

3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Dear Azra,

i am not a mormon but i can share with you some ways that i believe mormonism differs from Christianity:

1) They believe in the book of Mormon. Which is called: "Another Testament of Jesus Christ." There are things contained in the book of Mormon that contradict teachings of the Bible. There are also other Mormon Scriptures such as the pearl of great price.

2) Who Jesus is. (I think actually when anyone calls themselves a Christian- this is the essential questions. Who is Jesus? Is He God? Is He the only way to have a relationship with God?) This is what the Bible teaches about Jesus.

**There are many other fundamental beliefs that differ between the two religions. Please feel free to email me and i can provide you with some good books to read which can give you the basics of Christianity and i think once you compare this with the basics of Mormonism you will find that the two are completely different.

Hope that helps.

Kindly,

Nickster

Mormons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Among the different beliefs are:
1. Satan and Jesus: Mormons believe they are spirit brothers, most Christians believe Jesus is son of God and Satan is a fallen Angel

2. Prophets: Mormons believe a continuing line of Prophets, starting with Joseph Smith. Most Christians belive that there are prophetic people, but not as leader of the Church.

3. Baptism of the Dead:
Mormons believe that a living human can be baptised in the name of a dead person and then the dead person will be fully saved.
Most Christians believe you have only the time on this planet. (there is some different views on this)

4. Heavens
Mormons believe in different levels of heaven - celestial being the highest
Christians believe in one heaven for all

5. Hell
Mormons do not believe in hell - they believe in outer darkness
Christians believe in a literal Hell

6. Family
Mormons believe you can remain together as family (husband, wife, children, grandchildren) for all eternity
Most Christians believe the heavenly family will be all the Church

7. Godhood
Mormons believe that the husband and wife will have their own planet that they will rule over as gods
Most Christians don't believe we will become gods.

(There is much more)

Mormon's believe that Joseph Smith wrote Gods Word in New England States in the 1800's or some such thing. They have added their own book of Mormon to support the Bible and that is "Dead Wrong". the Bible says that any one who adds to or takes away from the word of this book (the Bible) will have their place in the Lake of Fire (Hell). Therefore, without bashing any ones religion I would suggest that Mormons are not Christian because the meaning of Christian is "A follower of Christ". Following Christ means adhering to His Word(s). Put it all together and I would say Mormonism is another "cult"

They believe the following:-
- People should never smoke or drink alcohol, tea or coffee.
- Mormons still believe in the Bible, but they also believe that another book was given in addition to this.
- This additional book is called the "Book of Mormon" I think. It was given to a man called Joseph Smith whom the Mormons believe was a Prophet.
- Despite what you see on tv, they do not believe that men should have more than one wife.

Mormons are a cult sect that claims to be of the christian faith from what i just read. They have some far out stuff. They claim Jesus came to the America. After death which none of the indians report, there founder was a Guy named joseph smith that is reported to have recieved some golden tables but never showed any one them. Most christian churchs denounce there teaching as it reputates the actual word of God. Mormans practive marriage with more then one wives. And teach that there members will one day fly to the stars and become Gods. Doing a mother and father GOd thing to populate the heavens. This is were the greatest departure from the teaching of JesuS Christ comes from jesus said we shall be like the angles neither given nor taken in marrage being like the angles. Just a cult.

Mormon Doctrines, Strange. CARM.
http://www.carm.org/lds/lds_doctrines.htm
check this site and see for yourself how they differ.
Not bashing, but they are NOT CHRISTIANS.
Jesus DIED on the CROSS for our sins, that if we believe we may enter Heaven.
They say Jesus and the devil, Satan, are spiritual brothers.
I can not say that Mormons are bad people, but I think Joseph Smith, has led a lot of people to hell.
They also say that you can SAVE the DEAD.
That you can attain your own GOD-hood.
That God is a MAN.
No lets not bash any religions...Well hey FYI, MORMONISN is a CULT!
