totally depends on how much emphasis. the other half places on thier parents, family, thier position in the family etc... if hey care loads about the family then they wnat you to be accepted by that family, and secretly want thier position in the family to be enhanced by u. They want people to say wow look at so and so... did he nto do well....
This is especially true for women, and mamas boys....

meeting the parents!!!! yeah a huge thing!!! meeting them for the first time is so important becaus ethe first meeting pretty much decides if the parents like the partner or not as first impressions really do mean everything!!!!
fow women yes it is important because mom's more than anything tend not to like girlfriends and find any fault in them they can,, but for men too it should be important as dad's tent not to like the boyfriends for very much the same kind of reasons...... no one is ever good enough for someones child!!!! so it takes some kind of impression to be liked

I would say not i think its much more of a big thing when the guys meet the girls parents as its natural to be more overprotective of daughters but in general it is a big thing as parents generally say what they think and believe it or not parents to a certain extent do have some sort of influence over you

I consider it a very big and beneficial thing. For the parents of males, it confirms their sons taste in choosing women. And this is more about character than anything else. However if she happens to be a looker, this only makes her feel more welcomed. And if a male meets a girls parents, this helps the parents also.

In my case, nope. Just means for whatever reason they are meeting Mom and the bro's. There is absolutely no relationship signifigance to it. I've gotten engaged, and been so for a year before the family met them...and I lived in the same house they did at the time LOL

It would be a huge, huge step in the serious direction for me personally to have a guy meet my parents. But I think that has to do more with my personal circumstances more than anything else.

Well, I met my boyfriends grandparents (he has nothing to do with his parents now) within the first week of us going out, then last night (officially 2 weeks after he asked me out) he met my parents, to me meeting his family wasnt that big a deal but last night my boyfriend made a real effort to impress my parents as he said he didnt want to muck things up with me. Luckily for me they said he was ok!!!!

for women meeting parents means u are getting serious but most of the times for men its just a way of gaining trust from gals, knowing how girls look at it.

its kind of like an acceptance. although a girl sometimes doesnt really care sometimes what their parents think, they still feel the need for them to have their parents accept the choice their daughter made with her boy friend, wrether it be a serious relationship or a fling. so just let her get it, be nice, sweet and on your best behavior. it'll make her happy

Doesn't mean anything in particular, you are just letting your parents meet the current girlfriend and visa versa.
